     After attending Northeastern State College, majoring in art, Carolyn married Melvin Curry. That was 50 years ago. Now with three sons, one grandson and four granddaughters later, art is never far away. After her youngest son started school, Carolyn began to teach fabric painting. Then she progressed to acrylics and finally oils.  She now has been the Artistic Coordinator for the Tulsa & surrounding area Hobby Lobby Creative Centers for 25 years managing all artist demonstrations and classes and teaches 8 classes per week. These classes include fabric painting, tole, oil, decorative painting, home school art, drawing and design. Her original designs can be painted on a variety of surfaces including wood, tin, glass, canvas, porcelain. Many of the classes she teaches are not just for adults, but for teens and children at varying levels. Many students have gone on to pursue degrees in Art and are now teachers themselves.

      Carolyn contributes her talents to teaching at several Senior Citizen Centers.  She participated in the painting murals on the Children's Floor at St. John's Hospital and the Center for Battered Women and Children. Carolyn frequently volunteers for teaching classes at Oklahoma State University - Extension Center, Tulsa Public Schools, American Cancer Society, and various 4H programs. Her designs have been showcased in demonstrations on local television stations. She has won numerous ribbons over the years at the Tulsa State Fair. Winning Sweepstakes ribbons consecutively in 1989-90, and several times since, including 2007 in the Fine Arts category.

    She is currently the 1st Vice President of the Tulsa Town Tolers and Is a 25 year member of the National Society of Tole and Decorative Painters. Carolyn teaches regularly at state and regional seminars like Tole Country in Oklahoma City and Houston Art Expo in Texas. in 2009 she taught at the SDP National Convention.  She continues to pursue excellence by taking classes herself. The most recent is study is of the Old Master's styles.

    Carolyn currently has a hand painted ornament on display at the Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery in Washington, D.C. It was inspired by the Renwick Permanent Collection. Many of her hand painted ornaments have been featured on the Family Christmas tree in the White House and in the Governor's Mansion in Oklahoma City, OK. Carolyn also has an original design on loan for the next year to DecoArt in Beijing, Tokyo.

    Her commissions have varied, paintings from photos of clients favorite places to murals in restaurants and residences, and restoration of hand painting on antiques. Fabric paintings seen on stage actors and on rodeo stars and oil paintings that grace many homes and offices.
